Cambo House is a majestic country estate in St Andrews, Scotland, located in the heart of a 1200 acre estate and a stone’s throw from the coast. Surrounded by the charming coastal villages of the East Neuk to the south and the historic city of St Andrews to the North, it’s a true gem in the Kingdom of Fife. The house boasts 18 Victorian-style guest bedrooms divided between five elegant suites and four spacious guest wings, and is set amidst lush parkland and ancient woodlands leading to a magnificent two mile stretch of sandy beach, backed by extensive sand dunes. Explore Cambo’s Georgian walled garden, enjoy its award-winning cafe and gift shop, and indulge in various activities from whisky tasting at Kingsbarns Distillery or playing golf at the renowned Kingsbarns Golf Links.
Cambo Estate was first occupied by John De Cambo who, it is thought, received it as a Norman land grant from the King in the 12th or 13th century. It was then acquired by the Lindsays and then Thomas Merton in 1620, and later purchased by Sir Charles Erskine, the Lord Lyon King of Arms and brother of the 3rd Earl of Kellie, in 1668. It was passed through the Erskine family, to the 5th Earl of Kellie, who forfeited his lands after supporting the Jacobite rising of 1745. It was later bought by the Charteris family in 1759, who bought it for their son while he was studying at St Andrews University.
Thomas Erskine, 9th Earl of Kellie, bought the estate back in the 1790s. A successful merchant in Sweden, he invested heavily in improving the estate. He commissioned the architect Robert Balfour to remodel the house in 1795. The 9th Earl, though married, had no heirs with his wife. However, before his marriage, he had a daughter named Anna Eglehart. He and his wife adopted all of Anna’s children, with the eldest becoming the first baronet of Cambo in 1821, as he couldn’t inherit knighthood due to being illegitimate. Both the first and second baronets of Cambo were avid golfers and served as captains of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club in St Andrews. Their portraits adorn the lobby of the Kingsbarns Golf Links clubhouse.

Cambo has a range of venues for every type of wedding, from the grandeur of the function rooms in the house to the natural beauty of their woodlands. With extensive accommodation on site and no curfew on the inner courtyard space, Cambo is an excellent choice to bring people together for an unforgettable wedding experience.

Golf has been enjoyed over the links land of Kingsbarns since 1793. Now a Worldwide Top 50 ranked course, Kingsbarns Golf Links stretches along 1.8 miles of coastline, each hole embracing glorious views of the sea.

Set your own pace in imaginative spaces designed to inspire relaxation and connection: opulent formal rooms and lush parklands, the dance floor in the Coach Yard and warm glow from fire pits.
